Torch
Egg
“This egg radiates heat”

It always gives off a warm glow, and the shell feels like metal. The egg becomes warmer when it's close to hatching.
Hatch
“It isn't too careful with it's heat”

The hatch always has a long tail that can be set ablaze from friction. Because of the size, it isn't the best at watching where it's tail goes, and tends to accidentally cause small fires. The wood-like tail does not hurt to be on fire, as torch dragons are naturally very resilient to flames. Young hatches are usually scared of cold and darkness, and the heat in it's body tends to become hotter if it's in distress.
Hatchling
“It explores and brings light to darkness”

Torch hatchlings are much better at controlling it's fire, as the more it uses it's tail, the more it burns and becomes shorter. The compact coal on it's head and shoulders burns more reliably than it's tail. It tends to adventure at dusk and through the earlier hours of the night for companions in the dark, then camps next to a warm and cozy flame through the rest of the night. Over time, it grows braver against the darkness and cold, as it has its own warm flames to guide the way forward.
Adult
“It guides those lost in the dark to safety”

Now grown up, the adult torch dragon has learned to brave the darkness and march through the cold, it's bright flames lighting the way and providing warmth. It doesn't hesitate to help others that may be scared in the dark, and it aims to help as many as it can through its flames. The fire and ashes have over time caused it's ears and feet to become darkened, and it's tail continues to burn shorter. A torch dragon's life is not connected to how much of it's tail is left, however. A torch dragon that looks more dark and burnt, and has a shorter tail, is seen as a dragon that has adventured lots and has helped many. Though it may look intimidating, torch dragons aren't hostile and prefer not to fight. It only uses it's flames to guide and bring warmth and light to others, and will only attack if truly threatened.
It's main body appears like metal, but it doesn't become super hot like real steel, though it can still become quite warm. The rest of its body looks and feels similar to dried out wood, but it only seems that the tail is flammable.

Story
Torch was accompanying a small group of curious children, who wanted to explore a cave they had found. The cave was dark and a lot of rocks felt loose the further they went. Torch kept it's tail lit the whole time, keeping track of the young group as they picked up and pocketed various rocks.
Despite the dragon's clear warnings, the kids pulled a larger rock loose, causing a large side of the cave wall to collapse. Torch immediately brought all the children close and shielded them from the sudden cloud of gravel and debris. As the dust settled, the group noticed that the path which they came from has been blocked from the fallen rocks, leaving them in complete darkness in the cool cave.
As Torch lit it's tail back up, the children clung to the dragon in fear of being trapped in the darkness. The dragon shook it's head and increased the heat in it's chest, as it's head and shoulders were set ablaze as well, providing more warmth and light. The dragon searched around the area, and it's light eventually revealed a second path. Torch kept the scared children close as it went down the tunnel. Though the path felt cool and unfriendly, Torch dragon continues forward, lighting the way, until the light of day could be seen at the end. Torch's flames lessened as the group exited the cave, safe and sound.
