Egg:

These fluffy moths grow starfruit that shine brightly at night.

The egg displays the wide and beautiful wings and fluffy leaf antennae of the adult moths. The egg emits a glittering light, akin to the small stars in our night sky.

Hatch:

A moth dragon that absorbs sunlight.

Born weak and frail, these dragons rely on the sun to grow despite being nocturnal. This hatch spends their days napping, and absorbing the sunlight into their fluffy fur while dreaming for the days when their wings grow big enough to soar through the skies like shooting stars with their pack. Small flower buds on their bodies begin to grow, but aren’t yet ready to blossom.

Hatchling:

Emits its own glittering light.

From the sun the hatchling has absorbed, the dragon is now able to emit glittering amounts of light during the night. These hatchlings join their pack at night to watch the bright stars in the sky. Their wings have also grown bigger as a result of the photosynthesizing they do, but aren’t yet big enough to fly yet. The flower buds are beginning to grow, and blossom into Starfruit flowers. The flower around its neck stores the energy for their growth and helps with pollination for the following day.

Adults

A moth dragon that lights up the night sky.

This dragon lives in a pack, which are called fluffles. A fluffle typically has many moths, as males join them after courting to care for their mate, and their potential young. Fluffles worship the moon and stars, looking at them for guidance in times of need. Other fluffles will care for another fluffle if they are unable to provide for themselves. Collaborations between fluffles are common, sharing land and resources to benefit both fluffles.

In the wild, the males care for the young moths, sheltering them from the cold with their fluffy bodies. Females with their elegant and lithe bodies protect the fluffle, watching for danger. Both the male and female Starfruit moths grow star fruits, which are located on vines on their backs. Typically the star fruit they grow are for hatchlings and the rest of their fluffle, especially if a member of the fluffle is ill. The photosynthesis that the Star fruit moth undergoes during the hatch and hatching stage, provides energy for the flower to blossom into sweet and delicious fruit. Because of the energy that these Star fruit moths need to provide fruit, these special Star fruits are filled with nutrients and healing properties and are also seen as a sign of affection as they give these fruits to their potential mate or to their tamer.

Starfruit moths mate for life, when one moth dies, the other joins them, appearing beside each other as stars in our sky. Eventually, all moths will one day become a star in our sky, guiding future generations, and lighting our sky at night time.

These dragons are known to be kind to humans who have lost their way on the fluffle’s territory during the night, approaching them and leading them back to safety.

Tamers: These moths form a strong bond with their tamers and will protect and care for their tamers to the best of their abilities. Star fruit moths will purr to express contentment, and offer fresh fruit to their tamers. The fur of both females and males are both soft, despite males being fluffier making for a perfect napping spot of their tames. These moths are vocal, may it be with a tamer or with other Starfruit moths. When their tamer is stressed, they chirp a calming melody to calm down their tamer. Despite being gentle and friendly creatures, these dragons are capable of protecting themselves and those they care about.

Because of their affinity with the night, the star fruit around their head, their wings, and the star fruit they produce on vines will illuminate when it’s dark. These moths are nocturnal, basking in the sun during the day and being active during the night. These moths have night vision, and are able to see clearly in the dark. When their wings flutter, pollen from the star fruit flowers on their bodies drop, catching the moonlight and glittering.

In ancient times, tamers believed that these dragons were capable of granting wishes, as the wings on the starfruit moth resemble the shooting stars in our sky.
