Greetings from Com2uS!
Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming in the December update for MLB RIVALS!
Please refer to the details below.
* The details shared in this [Update Preview] are subject to change depending on development progress and testing.
■ December Update Highlights
- The following key updates are scheduled for December:
* Detailed information on new content and updates will be announced separately on the update day.
* The details listed below are subject to change depending on development progress and testing.
![]() | Signature Black Recruit |
- A new layer of progression is opening for highly developed Signature Cards through the [Signature Black Recruit] system.
- Users who have unlocked World Champion 1 difficulty in League Mode will gain access to Signature Black recruitment.
- In the December update, Starting Pitcher (SP) and Designated Hitter (DH) positions will be the first available for recruitment.
- The stat boosts gained through Upgrade will differ by position, allowing Signature Black Cards to grow in ways that better reflect their roles on the field.
- Signature Black Cards will have access to position-specialized Black Skills.
- For Signature Black batters, reaching Transcendence Lv. 12 will allow you to select a position-specialized Transcendence Potential to unlock. (Some of these Potentials require the card to be placed in its corresponding position in the lineup for their effects to activate.)
* Players who can cover two positions must have both positions unlocked for Signature Black recruitment before they can be recruited as a Signature Black Card.
* Outfield positions (LF/CF/RF) will be added as recruitable positions with the January 2026 update. Additional positions will be introduced in future updates according to users' progress.
- Recruiting a Signature Black Card will require Signature Black Contracts, Ultimate Coins, same-team Signature Cards, Signature Cards, Advanced Training Boost Tickets, and Live & Season S Craft Cards or S-grade Live/Season Cards.
- The initial recruitment for both a Signature Black Card and an FA Signature Black Card will be offered with reduced material requirements.
- Signature Black Contracts can be earned through various content.
- Please check below for a detailed breakdown of required materials and quantities:
[Signature Card]
Materials | (First Time) Signature Black | Signature Black |
Same-Team Signature Card | 6 | 9 |
Signature Card | 1 | 2 |
S-grade Card | 150 | 300 |
Ultimate Coin | 80,000 | 160,000 |
Advanced Training Boost Ticket | 1,000 | 2,000 |
Signature Black Contract | 100 | 200 |
* Same-team Signature Cards and standard Signature Cards required as materials may be substituted with same-team FA Signature Cards, or with standard FA Signature Cards of any team/position, respectively.
* When using a card of the same player as the target Signature Black Card under the “same-team Signature Card” requirement, the material's effectiveness will be three times its value. This bonus also applies to first-time recruitment.
Example: When recruiting LAD Yamamoto ’25 as a Signature Black Card for the first time, registering LAD Yamamoto ’24 (FA) Signature and LAD Yamamoto ’25 (FA) Signature as “Same-Team Signature” materials will count as a total of six.
[FA Signature Card]
Materials | (First Time) FA Signature Black | FA Signature Black |
Same-Position FA Signature Card | 3 | 6 |
FA Signature Card | 1 | 2 |
S-grade Card | 115 | 225 |
Ultimate Coin | 60,000 | 120,000 |
Advanced Training Boost Ticket | 750 | 1,500 |
Signature Black Contract | 75 | 150 |
* Same-position FA Signature Cards and standard FA Signature Cards required as materials may be substituted with Same-position Signature Cards, or with standard Signature Cards of any team/position, respectively.
* When using a card of the same player under the “Same-position FA Signature Card” requirement, the material's effectiveness will be three times its value. This also applies to first-time recruitment.
Example: When recruiting LAD Yamamoto ’25 as an FA Signature Black Card, registering one LAD Yamamoto ’24 (FA) Signature Card and three (FA) Signature Cards of the same SP position (any team) will count as a total of six.
* To recruit a Signature Black Card, the base Signature Card must be fully developed in Training, Upgrade, Special Training, and Transcendence. Also, the card must have three S-grade Skills, including at least one Gold Tier Skill.
* FA Signature Cards can also be recruited as FA Signature Black Cards, following the same growth rules as standard Signature Black Cards, except for base stats and Deck Score, which may differ.
- When a Signature Black Card is recruited:
> All Training Boost Levels and detailed stat boosts from Training are fully preserved.
> All unlocked and developed Potentials are carried over.
> No additional Limit Break is required, and can reach up to Upgrade Lv. 10.
[Exclusive Systems]
■ Black Boost
- Black Boost is an exclusive bonus to Signature Black Cards, granting a set of random stat points.
- These assigned points can be redistributed by using the required materials.
■ Performance Fitting
- Performance Fitting allows you to fine-tune certain attributes for batters or pitchers.
- Batters: You may adjust either Hot/Cold Zones or Launch Angle, but only one category may be tuned at a time.
* If you adjust the Launch Angle after fitting Hot/Cold Zones, the previous Hot/Cold Zone value will be reset.
- Pitchers: You may adjust the pitch grade of the Pitch Types.
■ Year Change
- The Year Change system allows you to change an (FA) Signature Black Card into a different year’s version of the same player.
- To change the year of a Signature Black Card, you must use a Signature Card of that player from the target year as material. The same rules will apply to FA Signature Black Cards.
* Cards of the same player but from a different team may also be used.
- When performing a Year Change, all development values from the existing Signature Black Card are preserved. However, Performance Fitting settings will be reset.
- Only Signature Black Cards belonging to positions that have been released for Signature Black recruitment may undergo a Year Change. Material cards must also follow this rule.
[Skill System]
- Signature Black Cards will support two Skill Boards.
- Using the Skill Preset feature, you can freely switch between the two boards at any time. Unlocking and switching presets requires no additional currency or materials.
[Transcendence System]
- Signature Black Cards can progress through 15 Transcendence levels, gaining stat boosts with each level.
- Reaching Transcendence Lv. 9 grants an additional +1 Skill Level to the 1st Skill Slot.
- Up to Transcendence Lv. 9, the mechanics are similar to existing cards:
> Using another Signature Black Card of the same player as material grants Transcendence Lv. +3.
> Using a Signature Black Card of the same team and position grants Transcendence Lv. +1.
- However, considering the significant time and resources required to obtain a Signature Black Card, Signature Cards may also be used as Transcendence materials. 1 Signature Black Card can be substituted with 3 standard Signature Cards.
* Further details regarding the exclusive systems and full growth mechanics of Signature Black Cards will be provided in the official update notice.
![]() | Black Tier Skills |
- A new category of Black Tier Skills, exclusive to Signature Black Cards, will be introduced.
- When a Signature Black Card is recruited for the first time, its newly unlocked 4th Skill Slot will automatically be filled with a random S-grade Black Tier Skill.
- Only one of the four Skill Slots may hold a Black Tier Skill, and Skill Slot Lock is not supported for Signature Black Cards.
- Black Tier Skills can be obtained using any type of Skill Change Ticket. Higher-grade tickets provide a correspondingly higher chance of acquiring a Black Tier Skill.
* Further details on the newly added Black Tier Skills will be provided in the official update notice.
![]() | Transcendence Expansion & New Transcendence Potentials |
- The maximum Transcendence level for Moment, HOF, and Signature Black Cards will be expanded to Lv. 15.
- Upon reaching Transcendence Lv. 9, you may select one of the five existing Potentials to expand.
- This feature applies only to (FA) Signature Black, HOF, and Moment Cards.
> The selected Potential will receive a random number of additional slots:
- (FA) Signature Black: +1 to +5
- HOF: +1 to +3
- Moment: +1 to +5
- The maximum level of any Potential can be expanded up to Lv. 15.
> You can reroll the selected Potential and its expansion value using materials.
> Reaching Potential Lv. 15 grants an additional bonus effect.
* Transcendence Lv. 10 and above is designed as long-term, late-game content. Starting from Transcendence Lv. 10, each level will require three times the materials used for levels 1–9.
As material cost rises significantly compared to the moderate growth per level, we recommend developing your lineup evenly across multiple cards rather than focusing on a single card.
Examples:
1. Moment Card: Transcending LAD Yamamoto 2025 Performer Trio Moment Card from Lv. 9 → 10 requires:
> 1 LAD Yamamoto “HOT START” Moment Card (any emblem) or 3 LAD SP Moment Cards (any emblem)
2. Signature Black Card: Transcending LAD Yamamoto ’25 Signature Black Card from Lv. 9 → 10 requires:
> 1 LAD Yamamoto ’24 (any year) (FA) Signature Black Card, 3 LAD Yamamoto ’24 (any year) (FA) Signature Cards, or 9 LAD SP (FA) Signature Cards
- Reaching Transcendence Lv. 12 unlocks the brand-new 6th Potential (Transcendence Potential).
> You may select the Potential type upon unlocking. The 6th Potential starts with 4 base slots.
> You may change the Potential type later by using materials.
> The 6th Potential can be developed using a dedicated Potential Note (F), which can be acquired through Potential Game rewards.
- At Transcendence Lv. 15, the 6th Potential can be expanded further.
> (FA) Signature Black: +1 to +6
> HOF Cards: +1 to +8
> Moment Cards: +1 to +6
> Expansion values can be rerolled later using materials.
* All systems related to Transcendence Potential, such as Potential type changes and expansion-slot rerolls, are handled separately from standard/Advanced Potential Reset.
* Rerolling requires cards of the designated rarity and the same position, with additional bonuses provided when using cards from the same team or the same player.
* Further details on the 6th Potential will be provided in the official update notice.
![]() | Special Deck Score Improvements and Expansion |
- Certain milestones within the Special Deck Score system will be reorganized and merged, and the maximum Deck Score will be expanded to 700.
* Further details on the Special Deck Score improvements and expansion will be provided in the official update notice.
![]() | Moment Card Special Training Level Expansion |
- The maximum Special Training level for Moment Cards will be increased from Lv. 5 to Lv. 8.
- Special Training to Lv. 6 and beyond will require Limit Break Lv. 5 for eligible cards.
- Higher Special Training levels will require significantly more Special Training EXP.
![]() | New League Difficulty: Hyper Prime |
- A new League difficulty, [Hyper Prime], will be added.
- Unlocking Hyper Prime will increase the weekly earning cap of Ultimate Coins.
- In Hyper Prime difficulty, you will be able to acquire OVR 110 and OVR 120 Upgrade Cards.
![]() | UX Improvements & Others |
- Premium Scout will be revamped.
> At 600 Cumulative Purchase Rewards (including both First and Repetition Rewards), a Team Selective Signature Pack will be added to the reward track.
- Daily Check-in and Premium Check-in rewards will be updated.
- A Division Selective FA Signature Pack will be added to the Ultimate Shop.
- A new Potential F Game will be added.
> In this mode, you can obtain Potential Notes (F) used to grow Transcendence Potentials (the 6th Potential).
- The total number of required games up to Expert 3 difficulty in League Mode will be reduced.
- New OVR 130, 140, 150, and 160 Upgrade Cards will be added.
