MLB RIVALS Dev Note #18

Greetings from Com2uS!

With the 2025 MLB season now entering its home stretch, we’re working to deliver a steady stream of new content, events, and improvements throughout the rest of the year.

Today, we’d like to share details about the upcoming version update, as well as additional features and systems we plan to introduce soon.

Please note that all update schedules, balance adjustments, and features mentioned below are subject to change.

[Upcoming Update]

■ International Training Event (Tentative Title)

- A new event focused on Transcendence growth for HOF Cards is coming soon.

- While the event centers on HOF Cards, it can also be used to develop (FA) Signature Cards, Moment Cards, and more.

- Complete missions to earn event points, then spend those points on developments such as Upgrade, Limit Break, Transcendence, or Training Reallocation.

- The types of growth available and the eligible card rarities for each activity will vary by training region.

- Event point costs and training time will differ based on the activity type and card rarity.

- Since event point acquisition is capped, we recommend choosing training regions that best suit your team’s current needs.

■ Deck Score Effect Rebalance (Starting in August and Continues)

- To reduce early-game confusion and difficulty for newcomers, we will rebalance Deck Score effects by simplifying some of the earlier stages.

- Additionally, we’re preparing a Lineup Synergy rebalance alongside Deck Score improvements to encourage more flexibility when building lineups with various player cards.

■ New Rival Pick Effects

- A new effect will be added to help increase the usability of Rival Pick players currently used as Special Cards.

- The new “Rival Link” (tentative name) system will provide bonus stats and additional Deck Score to cards that match the Rival Pick’s team and name. (FA Cards are excluded.)

> For example, if the <PHI> Bryce Harper Live Card is selected as a Rival Pick, then until the pick changes, other <PHI> Bryce Harper cards from the ’19–’24 seasons, as well as his ’19, ’21, ’22, and ’24 Signature, Prime, and Impact Cards and <PHI>-affiliated Moment Cards (e.g., Leadership, Hot Start) will also receive bonus stats and extra Deck Score.

* All <WSH> Bryce Harper cards, as well as <PHI> FA Signature, FA Prime, and FA Impact cards, will be excluded.

- While the effects will be slightly lower than those for Live Cards, the system is designed to make gameplay more immersive during the ongoing MLB season and to improve the usability of your team’s Special Cards.

■ 2nd Workshop UX Improvements

- As mentioned in the previous Dev Note, we had limited the maximum quantity of materials and items per recipe to 100 due to potential processing delays and instability when consuming player cards.

- That limitation will now be removed. Recipes that previously required large quantities of player cards will be adjusted to use only Craft Cards, allowing you to craft a large number of items at once.

- To support this change, a new feature will be added that lets you convert player cards into Craft Cards in bulk, helping reduce inconvenience.

■ Senior Mission Step 6

- A new Step 6 will be added to the Senior Mission, featuring challenging tasks such as winning high-difficulty League Mode championships.

- Complete each mission in Step 6 to earn rewards like Signature Packs and Team Selective Signature Packs.

- We hope this long-term goal provides both a sense of achievement and a meaningful way to strengthen your lineup.

■ Early Progression Improvements for Newcomers

- Following recent updates that improved League Play and the tutorial experience, we’ll now improve the onboarding flow for newcomers during team creation.

- The UI for selecting your preferred team during team creation will be updated.

- Previously, players selected one main batter and pitcher during setup. Moving forward, you'll receive four main players and choose one to assign as your Clubhouse Leader.

* As a result, the “Win Master 3 in League Mode” condition to unlock Clubhouse Leader selection in the Locker Room will be removed. (However, the existing unlock condition for Clubhouse Leader Level Up may be retained to avoid early confusion.)

- The batter and pitcher Impact Cards provided during team creation will be replaced with slightly higher OVR players to better support early progress.

- To prevent lineup issues caused by positional changes in Live Cards, the default lineup will now primarily consist of Season Cards.

- The MLB RIVALS team will continue working to make sure newcomers can adjust to the game smoothly.

■ In-Game Improvements

- Pitcher gaze direction during windups will be updated for more realistic motion.

- Once a pitch type is selected, the projected trajectory will be displayed.

* This trajectory shows the ideal path assuming no control error. Actual pitches may vary depending on pitching stats.

- When using Quick Play in League Mode, the current pitcher’s information will be shown on screen.

- Stadium visuals and player character shaders will be adjusted for a more lifelike appearance.

■ Additional Improvements

- Memory usage will be optimized across various gameplay features.

- Moment Card Info will now display additional Potential Level unlocks available through Transcendence.

- A search function will be added to the Stadium Shop, making it easier to filter and find specific packages.

- Free items in the Stadium Shop will be more clearly marked and easier to locate.

- You’ll be able to set the number of games for consecutive play more easily in League Mode, Potential Games, and Event Games using updated slide controls.

- The Skill Change UI will be updated:

 > Skill Level Protection Tickets can now be used during normal Skill Changes without interrupting consecutive rerolls.

 > Advanced and Superior Skill Change Tickets will support continuous rerolls without returning to the main screen after each change.

- When filtering HOF Cards in the Player Index by team, cards that can be switched to that team (even if it’s not their primary team) will now appear in the results.

 > Example: When filtering by HOF + Chicago Cubs, both Billy Williams and Greg Maddux will appear.

- Challenge rewards for reaching certain tiers in Live Match will be adjusted to include more Limit Break EXP, Ultimate Coins, and Upgrade Cards.

[Upcoming Live and Build Updates]

- Emotes will be added to Chat and Live Match for more expressive communication. (Sept.)

- EXP gain from the Limit Break Step-Up Event will be slightly increased. (Sept.)

- A revamped Club Battle mode is in development, featuring 1v1 matchups and a stronger competitive focus. (Sept.)

- Clubhouse Leader Level expansion is planned. (Sept. or later)

 > Since this system targets a smaller user base, the stat increases will remain relatively modest compared to the materials required.

- A new "Pitching Leader" (tentative name) system will be added to the Locker Room. Separate from the Clubhouse Leader, this feature will be exclusive to pitchers and offer limited stat boosts, similar to the Clubhouse Leader system. (Sept. or later)

The MLB RIVALS team is committed to continuously improving the game so you can build strategic lineups using a wide variety of player cards.

Whether it’s HOF Cards, FA Signature/Prime/Impact Cards, Moment Cards, or Live and Season Cards—we want every card type to stand out and bring the most out of your lineup.

Just as we’ve developed the Rival Link system (tentative name) to make Live and Season Cards feel more relevant and immersive, we’ll continue looking for ways to bridge the gap between legendary HOF Cards and Signature Cards from your favorite teams—while also expanding lineup options through Moment Cards with unique themes.

That’s all for today’s Dev Note.

We’ll do our best to deliver these updates as close to the planned schedule as possible.

Please note that some details and update schedules may shift slightly based on development progress—we appreciate your understanding.

We’ll also continue rolling out live and build updates for any features that progress quickly in planning and development.

Once again, thank you always for your support!
