MLB RIVALS Dev Note #19

Greetings from Com2uS!

As the 2025 MLB regular season nears its end and the postseason approaches, we’d like to sincerely thank you for your continued support of MLB RIVALS.

We’re working hard to bring you a variety of content, events, and improvements—many of which we introduced in our previous Dev Note—before the year is out.

Today, we want to give you a preview of what’s coming in the next update, along with a few features currently in development.

Please note that all update schedules, content, and balance adjustments we’re about to share are subject to change.

We’re also preparing to improve how we deliver Dev Notes in the future.

Going forward, Dev Notes will focus more on long-term plans, overall development goals, and the direction of upcoming content, while shorter-term updates will be communicated through separate notices.

We believe this change will keep you better informed about near-, mid-, and long-term updates, while also sparking excitement and providing greater clarity. More details on this new format will be shared soon.

[Upcoming Update Highlights]

■ Club Battle Revamp

- As many of you have requested, the Club Battle system is being revamped with a stronger focus on strategy and competition.

- Instead of the previous 4-Club battle format, the new system will feature direct 1v1 matchups between Clubs.

- Club Battles will now run daily, with one round per day and no rest days in between.

- Club Masters can assign members to one of three formations: Offense, Defense, or Balance. The Club Master or Vice Master can also set the order of members within each formation.

- Formation Effects:

Offense: OVR buff when attacking. OVR debuff when defending. Team OVR is always visible.

Defense: OVR buff when defending. OVR debuff when attacking. Team OVR is always visible.

Balance: No buffs or debuffs. Team OVR is hidden until the team is first attacked.

- Not every formation needs to be filled; however, the number of members assigned to Offense and Defense must be equal.

> Examples:

 Allowed: Offense 5 + Balance 10 + Defense 5

 Allowed: Offense 0 + Balance 20 + Defense 0

 Not Allowed: Offense 15 + Balance 2 + Defense 3

- Each Club member will receive 3 attack chances and 3 defense chances.

- If a Club successfully defeats a defending member of the opposing Club 3 times, that member’s defense is exhausted, and the Club earns an Emblem.

- Additional Victory Points (Round Score) will be awarded based on the number of Emblems collected.

- The Club with the higher Victory Points (Round Score) within the time limit wins the round.

- The current league system will be replaced with a tier system, where Club tiers and World Rankings will be determined by Club Points.

- We hope these formation mechanics and the strategic counterplay between opposing Clubs will make Club Battle even more engaging and competitive.

■ Live Match Reward and System Improvements

- Higher-value rewards will be added to the top-tier rankings in Live Match.

- Live Match was designed for users who enjoy the thrill of real-time competition against non-AI, real users. We’ve placed rewards such as Quick Play Tickets and Points across various in-game stats like Hits, Home Runs, and Strikeouts to support team development. (The decision to use total Hits as a requirement for Weekly Missions was also based on this intent.)

- However, we’ve observed that some users prioritize rewards over actual competition, which has negatively impacted those who genuinely enjoy playing Live Match.

- To address this, we’ll adjust the reward system by tying Weekly Mission rewards to Win Counts rather than play statistics, and modifying the required counts accordingly.

- We understand these changes may unintentionally affect newcomers or users with relatively weaker lineups, so we are preparing additional support measures for them. More details will be shared in the [Mid-to-Long-Term Development Plans] below.

■ UX Improvements for Multi-Team Users

- The current process for switching accounts on the same device requires logging out, restarting the game, selecting a login method again, and re-entering credentials—a cumbersome experience.

- After the update, you’ll be able to save multiple accounts selectively on your device.

- By selecting a saved account from the list, you can switch accounts without re-entering your ID or password.

- We hope this update provides greater convenience for users managing multiple Teams.

■ 2025 Postseason Events

- To celebrate the 2025 MLB Postseason, a variety of special events are coming your way.

- These include Play Events, Scouts, Event Games, Event Shops, and Pick 'em Events.

- Full details will be provided in a separate notice.

■ Locker Room Update and New Emote System

- The Locker Room is getting an overhaul, featuring new additions such as Clubhouse Leader assignment and Emote crafting.

- In this revamped menu, you’ll be able to craft new Universal Emotes as well as Team-specific Emotes, and use them to express yourself in Chat and Live Match.

- A new feature will let you assign up to 8 Emotes for use in Live Match, ensuring the Emote UI doesn’t obstruct gameplay. (You’ll be able to freely place crafted Emotes.)

■ Additional Chance for HOF Normal Recruit

- An extra account-limited attempt for HOF Normal Recruit will be available for those who have completed their first chance. (A total of 2 attempts per account.)

- Although this second attempt will require slightly more resources than the first, it will still cost less than the standard Normal Recruit.

■ Upgrade Event Improvements

- HOF Cards will now be eligible for Upgrade Events, and the maximum Upgrade level will be expanded. (Maximum levels may vary depending on card rarity.)

- A new 5% base Critical Rate will be applied to all Upgrade attempts.

- Completing certain missions will grant one-time access to a 20% additional Critical Rate.

- For those who have already upgraded most of their cards, the Upgrade Event Shop will be revamped with new items.

- Weekly purchase offers will be restructured into time-limited offers available during the event period, improving overall convenience.

■ In-Game Improvements

- The ball rebound behavior when hitting the nets in foul territory will be updated for a more realistic trajectory.

- Stadium crowd rendering and simulation-related memory usage will be optimized.

- Pitcher gaze direction will be improved to appear more realistic.

- Sliding marks will now reflect the ground texture color of each stadium.

■ Other Additions and Improvements

- Various UX improvements are in the works. Details will be announced in the upcoming Update Notice.

■ Ongoing Deck Score Effect and Lineup Synergy Rebalance

- Following the Deck Score rebalance in the August update, we are preparing additional adjustments to Lineup Synergy and Special Deck Score effects.

- These updates aim to provide more viable lineup combinations using a wider variety of player cards.

[Mid-to-Long-Term Development Plans]

- Our team remains committed to delivering new content and improvements to help all users adapt to the game, grow steadily, and continue enjoying MLB RIVALS over the long term.

■ Ranked Battle Refresh Condition Update (Q4 2025)

- The current system refreshes your rank based on real-time standings at the moment of refresh.

- This will be changed to reflect your final ranking from the previous day when the refresh limit resets.

- The existing system favors users who play as late as possible before reset. With the new approach, you’ll be able to play Ranked Battle at any time of day without disadvantage.

■ Live Match Rookie League (Q4 2025)

- We’ve observed that lineup OVR gaps sometimes make Live Match less enjoyable for newcomers.

- To address this, we plan to introduce a separate Live Match League exclusively for newcomers, with participation limited to users below a certain Team Level and OVR.

- This Rookie League will offer easier access to rewards to support early progression, providing a more balanced and enjoyable experience.

- We expect this mode to help players become familiar with the gameplay and strengthen their lineups before advancing to the Standard League.

■ Team-Based Ranked Battle Tournament (TBD)

- A new team-based Ranked Battle Tournament will be held based on Universe Rankings for each of the 30 MLB teams.

- Only users who rank within a specific threshold for each team will be eligible to participate, and the total number of participants will be significantly expanded compared to the standard tournament format.

- The basic rules will be similar to those of the current Ranked Battle Tournament.

- This new format will alternate with the existing tournament, and we plan to introduce additional tournament types in the future to keep things fresh and competitive.

■ Club Home Run Race (TBD)

- Following the Club Battle revamp in September 2025, a brand-new Club-based event will be introduced: Club Home Run Race.

- The format will be a 1v1 matchup between Clubs, with victory determined by comparing the top scores recorded by Club members.

- We will continue preparing more cooperative yet competitive Club content like this.

■ Lineup Strategy and Player Card Usage (Details Coming in October)

- In the previous Dev Note, we shared our vision of:

> Continuously improving the game so you can build strategic lineups using a wide variety of player cards.

> Finding ways to bridge the gap between legendary HOF Cards and Signature Cards from your favorite teams, while also expanding lineup options through Moment Cards with unique themes.

- This remains our top priority, and we plan to share more concrete details by October.

- New Special Cards (Signature/Prime/Impact) are also in the works and will be introduced.

■ Additional HOF Cards in Normal Recruit (Coming in October)

- More HOF Cards will be added to the Normal Recruit pool in October.

That wraps up today’s Dev Note.

We’ll do our best to deliver the updates mentioned above within the planned timeframes.

Please note that, depending on development progress, some features or schedules may shift—especially those in the mid-to-long-term roadmap, where exact timing may be harder to specify.

For any features or improvements that progress quickly, we’ll continue rolling them out through live or build updates as soon as they’re ready.

Thank you once again for your continued support!
