MLB RIVALS Dev Note #17

Greetings from Com2uS!
First off, we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued passion and support for MLB RIVALS.
Thanks to your love and encouragement, MLB RIVALS celebrated its official 2nd anniversary on Jul. 5. We’re truly grateful for the journey we’ve shared together.
With the second half of the 2025 MLB season now underway, we’re also preparing a variety of new content and events to keep up the hype.
Also, we’ll continue releasing regular updates to improve gameplay rewards, balance, and overall user experience, making MLB RIVALS even more enjoyable.
Today, we’d like to share what’s coming in the next version update, along with some new content we’re aiming to release in the near future.
Please note that all update schedules, balances, and features are subject to change.
[Next Update]
■ Tiebreaker Showdown (Tentative Title)
- A brand-new real-time tiebreaker event is coming, offering a lighter and more rewarding way to enjoy live matches.
- You’ll enter with a lineup composed entirely of just one batter and one pitcher, and matches begin in the 10th inning using tiebreaker rules. If no winner is determined by the 12th inning, the game ends in a draw.
- The players’ stats from Training, Upgrade, Skills, Special Training, Transcendence, and Potential are retained. However, stats gained from Clubhouse Leaders, Position Training, Deck Score, Synergy, and Rival Pick will not apply.
- Players used out of their original position (including pitchers in an incorrect role) will receive penalties. Players with multiple positions will not be penalized for either position.
- During the event, players who meet certain conditions will receive special boost effects, such as a fixed Upgrade Lv. 20 and a 50% reduction in position penalties.
- New Team Selective Moment Card Packs featuring a unique concept will be given as rewards based on performance.
* This event mode is separate from the standard Live Match.
■ League Mode Improvements
- To help newcomers better understand and adjust to League Mode, certain play options will be revamped.
- Highlight Play will be renamed to “Spotlight Play” (tentative), with updated mechanics that allow you to select one batter from your lineup to control, providing a more immersive experience.
- In Full Play, you’ll be able to choose between Pitcher Only, Batter Only, or Both. You can also select specific innings to play (multiple inning selection supported).
- Existing features like Batter ON/OFF, Pitcher ON/OFF, and Simulate Toggle (Game Intervene ON/OFF) will remain available, along with a new in-game guide to explain these features.
■ Live/Season Card Upgrade Level Expansion
- We’ve been working to help you feel more connected to the real-life MLB season, and earlier improvements, such as the Development Transfer revamp in May, have made Live and Season Cards easier to use.
- In this update, we’re expanding the Upgrade Level cap to further increase their usability.
- The maximum Upgrade Level for Live/Season Cards will be expanded to 24.
- Limit Break will also be extended accordingly, and starting from Limit Break Lv. 6, more Limit Break EXP will be required than before.
- From Upgrade Lv. 20 and onward, higher OVR material cards will be required for upgrades.
■ Workshop UX Improvements & Duplicate Filter Option
- Several systems will be improved to make the Workshop easier to use.
- For recipes requiring multiple types of materials, a new “Quick Register” button will allow faster and more convenient material registration.
- A new “Duplicate Filter” option will be added when registering material cards.
: When enabled in features like the Workshop, Position Training, HOF Recruitment, and Clubhouse Leader, only duplicates will appear in the list while leaving out one unique copy.
(Example: If you own three S-grade ‘25 Jung Hoo Lee cards, enabling the option will show only two of them in the list.)
■ 2nd Workshop UX Improvements (August)
- Previously, material and output quantities were limited to 100 per recipe to prevent processing delays or stability issues when consuming cards from your inventory.
- Moving forward, recipes that require large numbers of player cards will now require only Craft Cards, allowing you to craft more items at once.
- A new feature will also be added to convert player cards into Craft Cards in bulk to support this system.
■ In-Game Improvements
- A color vision accessibility option will be added to help distinguish between balls and strikes more easily when successfully guessing a pitch.
- UI elements for Guess Pitch and pitch location indicators will be adjusted for consistent scaling during gameplay.
- Player cards will no longer overlap with UI elements on the in-game simulation screen.
- Commentary flow will be improved so that if a hit occurs mid-line, it naturally transitions into the appropriate voice line.
■ Additional Updates & Improvements
- The UI for various missions will be unified to reduce the hassle of navigating through menus.
- Daily and Weekly Play Mission rewards will be boosted.
- When playing Potential or Event Games manually, the number of Potential Notes or Event Coins earned so far will now be displayed on the screen.
- The Club and Club Battle menus will be merged for easier navigation.
- HOF Special Training improvement: If a player card is eligible for multiple team settings, 2x Special Training EXP will apply to material cards from all the eligible teams without having to change that HOF Card’s team.
(Example: The Greg Maddux HOF Card set to Atlanta Braves will receive 2x EXP from both Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs Special Cards.)
- HOF Tier Skill icons will be updated to reflect their effects better.
- The names of each HOF Card’s unique Potentials will be updated (no change in performance).
- New Skills will be added for both batters and pitchers.
[Upcoming Live & Build Updates]
- Early progressions, such as creating your team and undergoing tutorials, will be improved to help new users adjust more easily. (August)
- A Called Game system will be introduced for Live Match to end games early when the score gap becomes too large. (August)
