(A Lighthouse That Always Lights The Way)
On one stormy and dark night, there was a lighthouse dragon seeking shelter in a cave near the beach. Looking at the pouring rain, she sighed. She had not gotten to play on the beach for many nights as the rain did not stop. Bored, she thought to herself, “Hmm, there is nothing eventful for the past few nights, maybe I should just sleep instead of surveying the coasts.” Yawning, she decided to survey the coasts one more time before heading to bed.
Looking out into the distance, she spots a small ship trapped in the middle of the dangerous waves. Worried, she stood up immediately. Oh no, there are people in danger, she thought. Quickly, she ran to the shore, rain beating heavily against her scales.
Once she reached the shore, she sank her tail into the sand, and with a graceful leap, balanced herself on the tip of her tail. She opened her mouth and let light shine out of her mouth, aiming it towards the ship. Please see me, my light will lead you to safety, she thought desperately. However, seeing the huge waves crashing into the ship and blocking her light, she realised that she was not tall enough to catch the ship’s attention.
Looking around, she noticed the huge lighthouse near the shore. The lighthouse had been abandoned a long time ago as it was spoiled. There was no way she could get it to work as the lighthouse had no electricity. Suddenly, she sparked an idea. “How about I use the lighthouse as a stand!” She exclaimed excitedly.
She ran towards the lighthouse, and with a powerful leap, she leapt to the top of the lighthouse. The lighthouse dragon opened her mouth again, this time shining an even more powerful burst of light towards the ship. With the extra height, her light could be seen even with the large waves surrounding the ship. Gradually, the ship seemed to see her light, and headed towards her light as fast as it could.
Finally, after a long and hard battle in the storm, the ship finally reached the land. Jumping down from the lighthouse, the lighthouse dragon quickly escorted the sailors towards the safety of her cave.
When they reached the cave, the sailors were tired, but extremely grateful for the lighthouse dragon’s help. “Thank you so much for helping us! Without your light, we could have never found our way to safety! You are our hero!!” They cheered. Grabbing the barrels of fish from their ship, the sailors shared the food with the lighthouse dragon as a sign of gratitude.
Throughout the rest of the night, they feasted, sang songs together, and shared stories with each other. In the morning when the storm cleared, the sailors set sail again. “Thank you so much again for saving us! We will never forget your kindness!” They chirped. Watching the ship slowly sailing into the distance, she felt a sense of pride and determination in her. From that day on, she diligently surveyed the coasts every night, vowing to be more alert so that she will be able to help everyone in need.
