With his tiny limbs, Impheus has difficulty moving around. He clings to his gemstone, drawing energy from the nightmares it creates.
Hatchling
It refuses to let anyone near its gemstone.
Impheus clings to his gemstone, constantly feeding it negative energy. The more negativity he feeds it, the more powerful the nightmares it is capable of creating.
Adult
This dragon transforms dreams into nightmares and feeds on them.
Impheus prowls the night, seeking out sleeping dragons. He doesn't care for the taste of dreams, so he uses his gemstone to turn them into nightmares. While this doesn’t harm the dreaming dragon, it can startle them awake. If the dragon awakens before Impheus can finish his feast, he quickly retreats.
Story
Impheus slunk through the forest, his eyes fixed on a massive dragon asleep in the distance. His stomach growled, it had been far too long since his last meal. While he usually avoided large dragons, this time the risk seemed worth it.
As he drew closer, the purple gemstones on his head, chest, and tail began to glow with an eerie light, granting him a glimpse into the dragon's peaceful dream of soaring through a bright sky. Scowling at the tranquility of the dream, Impheus waved his claws, twisting it into a nightmare of shadowy figures chasing the dragon through a now stormy sky.
Loudly smacking his lips in satisfaction, Impheus reveled in his success. Just as he prepared to feast on the newly formed nightmare, the dragon’s eyes flickered open. With a low growl, it lunged at him, its massive teeth bared, ready to tear him apart.
Impheus leapt away just in time, soaring into the night sky. The dragon gave chase, but Impheus’s small size allowed him to slip through a gap in the cliffside, narrowly avoiding the dragon’s claws.
Frustrated and still hungry, Impheus slunk deeper into the forest, determined to find smaller, easier prey. He knew next time he would need to be much quieter while feeding.
