Story

Moonlight Rendezvous

The villagers were in a frenzy tonight! Men held aloft pitchforks and pointy spears, and children fled to their homes to hide.

“Hunt it down! Find the witch dragon!” In the village square, a man lies unconcious, breathing but somehow… it seems he may never wake again.

A small girl watches it all. Her eyes are clouded with worry, but not for the man. She turns, and runs with quiet, nimble steps to a nearby river.

At this hour, the water was laced with shining moonlight, and from beneath, Styx surfaces, greeting the girl.

"Poor dragon… They're looking for you."

The dragon laughs, a mischievous bell-like sound, “Of course, everyone always does for one reason or another!”

“They intend to hurt you!” The girl cries, “After all you've done for me, I cannot let that happen!”

The dragon reaches out a comforting hand, “Oh, hush, I can take care of myself.”

A sudden rustling startles the both of them, and Styx shoots the girl a final wink before it swims away. Angry villagers pour out of the shrubbery, but they are greeted by naught but a harmless girl. And one who will never be harmed, for she has a guardian angel. Or perhaps, a guardian witch.

달빛의 만남
