Nevertheless, some escape their bounds to destroy and devour ships, or even manipulate gullible adventurers into freeing them.

Story

A Monster Who Weeps

Without warning, the baby Kraken snaps at its trainer's gentle hands.

“Ow! Stop that.” He chides, but the small dragon's red eyes looked on in feigned innocence. Charmed by the display, the Trainer returns to cooing the spoilt creature.

Now, decades later, the Trainer looks upon the chained dragon, once his best friend, now locked like a mad animal ravaged by endless hunger.

He keeps his distance, it is the wise thing to do, however…

Though the Kraken's eyes are hidden beneath its bindings, it coos and growls pathetically, and the Trainer couldn't help it anymore.

With much effort, he frees his best friend and-

Snap! The beast's maws close around him.

In his final, fleeting moments, before the world goes dark- the Trainer hears what could be… crying?
