This egg is eager to hatch and grow. 
 

This egg seems quiet and unassuming, however, its excited and hasty energy says anything but. 

Hatch:

This hatch is ambitious and eager to explore. 

This hatch is without supervision and will attempt to eat anything shiny- so long as it fits in its mouth. 

Hatchling:

This hatchling embraces its new colors. 
 

The mysterious gems digested by this hatchling have caused some bright, vibrant colors to surface on its underside. It appears to almost light up. 

Adult: 

Penumbra spends its time traveling within the dark depths, constantly on the lookout for colorful gems and rocks. 
 

The powerful stone it ate as a hatch has given Penumbra a unique strength and an accompanying bioluminescence. While many deep sea dwellers often assume Penumbra is a malevolent dragon due to its startling appearance, the opposite quickly becomes apparent when Penumbra generously offers its light to guide the way to lost creatures. 

Penumbra has a reputation for being a guiding light to those lost within the dark depths of the ocean and can be used as a method of navigation through twisting and turning cave systems. In return, it is happy to receive numerous shining objects to snack on. 

Story: 

Penumbra wasn’t sure which rock it ate as a hatch that made him like this. The rock gave him contrasting colors and a bioluminescent mane. It made him stronger and allowed him to grow into something entirely new. 
 

All over the ocean floor, in ocean beds, caves, and other surfaces, Penumbra searched for this mysterious rock. However, he searched only with half of his heart in it, because he had never found such a rock since that day, and he had eaten it without another thought. 
 

But on this day, Penumbra found it once more, a small red crystal lay unassumingly among some coral. In his excitement, he raced to the rock and took it for himself. Finally, he could study its contents.

To his surprise, the rock had no special properties. None. Penumbra was quickly disappointed, and could only wonder what it truly was that had caused the strange red colour to appear on his body. 

Perhaps he would never know.
