Dragon story: Origin of Boreas

A long, long time ago, in the furthest reaches of the north where there was no such thing as summer, there wandered a lonely little wolf. Though his territory was vast, not a single other living creature dwelt in this land of eternal winter. What the little wolf wanted more than anything else was to see another living being, so he wandered around this snow covered land in search of life. One day, the little wolf discovered the remains of a giant dragon, the bones sticking up out of the white snow that covered everything. In the very center of the skeleton, there was a sapphire-blue pool of water.

Stepping up to the pool in wonder, the little wolf looked down into its sapphire-blue depths. He thought he could hear a faint whispering coming from the pool. The little wolf bent down until his nose was almost touching the water, ears straining to make out the sound.

Suddenly, a great gust of wind blew into the little wolf from behind, and he tumbled into the water. Ice formed around him, encasing him in a frozen shell. The little wolf lost consciousness as the ice closed over his head, and he fell into a deep sleep. While he slept, the powers of the ancient dragon remains which surrounded the pool seeped into the little wolf, granting him the power of ice and wind. 

Many centuries later, the frozen egg was discovered, and the little wolf emerged into a world full of dragons. The little wolf longed desperately to be a dragon, so the powers of the ancient dragon came to him, transforming the little wolf into a dragon himself, allowing him to finally have the companions and love he always wished for all those centuries ago.
