MLB RIVALS Dev Note #7

Thank you to all users who are supporting MLB RIVALS.

In June, we had a series of updates which included: Position Training that will help team progression in the long term; Potential Game Event that will enable efficient Potential growth; and other QoL improvements. In addition, we showcased various events in celebration of the first anniversary and the All-Star Game to offer better entertainment. We hope that these endeavors have deepened your love for MLB RIVALS.

This dev note will discuss coming updates and updates planned for the future.

First, the coming updates will focus on improving content that allows you to get familiar with the game.

[Coming Updates]

1. Guide Mission 2 - STEP 3

- STEP 3 of Guide Mission 2 will be open to guide your team’s continuous progression.

- STEP 3 will offer better rewards than STEP 2.

2. Campaign Mode Chapter 3

- A new chapter will be added to the Campaign Mode, which was introduced to offer various challenges under given conditions and the joy of clearing those challenges.

- Chapter 3 will largely center on batting, and we expect these stages to further challenge those who have cleared Chapter 2 Advanced Training to some degree.

3. RBI Battle Tier Addition and Reward Improvement

- Two new higher tiers will be added to RBI Battle.

- The overall quality of RBI Battle rewards will be improved, and the Home Run Shop will be revamped.

4. League Mode Reward and UX Improvements

- A play reward feature will be added to the Beginner tier to help new users get accustomed to batting, pitching, and playing the League Mode.

- The new feature is designed to familiarize new users with player acquisition and lineup change routes early in the game. Rewards that accelerate early-stage progression will be provided as well.

- A consecutive play function will be added to the Full Play playstyle of League Mode.

5. Miscellaneous

- The usability of Advanced Potential Reset Tickets will be improved.

- The confirmation process for resetting accounts will be improved.

Secondly, a new card system "FA Card" and more updates are planned for the third quarter.

Please note that the details for these updates are subject to change before the actual release.

[3rd Quarter Updates]

1. FA Card System

- FA Cards are unique cards that grant Deck Score value and effect applicable for the preferred team regardless of their team affiliation.

- FA Cards are intended to strengthen each team's weak position to a certain extent without degrading the value of existing Special Cards.

- To avoid teams losing their colors, only a limited number of FA Cards can be added to the lineup. (If an FA Card of a two-way player is registered in both the pitcher and batter lineups, the FA Card will be considered a single count.)

[FA Card Characteristics]

- FA Cards can receive the Deck Score effect of other teams but will have lower Deck Score and base stats than the existing cards.

- There is a limit to how many FA Cards can be registered in the lineup. We expect FA Cards to create synergy with the existing Special Cards.

- FA Cards and existing Special Cards can be used as a Limit Break (same player) or Special Training material for one another.

(F. Freeman ‘23 Prime Card can be used as Limit Break material for F. Freeman '23 FA Signature Card, and vice versa)

- FA Cards can be obtained from player packs or by converting a Special Card into an FA Card using an FA Contract Ticket.

: You can convert the Special Card of your choice into an FA Card while maintaining the development progress of Upgrade/Training/Training Boost/Limit Break/Potential/Special Training and all other developments of the selected Special Card.

: If a two-way player goes FA, both the batter card and pitcher card of the player will change into FA Cards.

: Impact, Prime, and Signature Cards can be converted into FA Cards, and the amount of FA Contract Tickets required varies. (Conversion example: Impact → FA Impact)

: FA Cards are unique cards that can be used as cards of the preferred team. Thus, they may require a high conversion cost depending on their grade.

: If there is any unused Signature Card in possession, the unused card can be used in place of some FA Contract Tickets when converting another Signature Card of the same position into an FA Signature Card.

(E.g. When converting F. Freeman '23 Signature Card into F. Freeman '23 FA Signature Card, using a Signature Card with the same position (1B) can reduce the amount of FA Contract Tickets required.)

[Related Events and Acquisition]

- Various events and acquisition methods are prepared to allow quick acquisition of FA Cards upon their release.

- All users can participate in the new events.

- FA Contract Tickets can be obtained from events, gameplay, and the Shop (limited sale period and quantity).

- FA Player Packs will be available in events and the Shop.

- More events will be held to mark the release of FA Cards.

2. Deck Score Effect Expansion

- The overall balancing of the Deck Score system is being performed in line with the introduction of FA Cards.

- Deck Score balance, ceiling, and effect will be updated.

3. Workshop Material Card Conversion System

- A conversion feature that converts Live/Season Cards into Workshop material cards will be added.

- A feature that converts Live/Season Cards into material cards instantly upon scout is being prepared. The feature will be activated if the instant conversion function is ON, allowing users to select cards to convert upon scout.

4. Potential Unlock Requirement Change

- The requirement for unlocking Potential, which currently unlocks in phases of five based on the Limit Break count, will be changed.

- The new unlock condition will only require you to reach Upgrade Lv. 10, upon which all Potential stages will be unlocked.

- The Potential phases unlocked from Limit Break before such change will remain, and the phases remaining locked will unlock altogether upon reaching Upgrade Lv. 10.

(E.g. Upgrade Lv. 10 with 3 Limit Breaks -> Unlock remaining Potentials equivalent to 2 Limit Breaks)

5. Miscellaneous (Updates in Third Quarter or Later)

- A notification feature that alerts you when you obtain the players you have designated for Position Training will be added.

- The Postseason Pick 'em will be improved.

- The Claim All function of the Inbox will be improved to enable Claim All excluding Balls.

- You will be able to set a target level when performing consecutive Upgrades.

- The Rival Series UI will be improved to display the [number of players from the same team currently in the lineup/number of players required for Team Buff] under the Buff > Roster tab if at least one player of that team is in the Rival Series Lineup.

- Club Battle improvement is being prepared.

- The graphic quality of ballparks and players will be improved. The improvements will be implemented sequentially.

Please look forward to the updates planned for the third quarter and beyond.

Please also kindly understand that the details and schedules for the aforementioned plans are subject to change based on the development progress.

Thank you for your continued support.
