MLB RIVALS Dev Note #8

Greetings from Com2uS!

Thank you to all users who are supporting MLB RIVALS.

This dev note will discuss the coming update under preparation and some of the future content plans.

In July and August, MLB RIVALS conducted the following updates:

- FA Cards

- New chapter in Guide Mission 2

- New chapter in Campaign Mode

- New higher tiers in RBI Battle

- RBI reward revamp

- Material card conversion system

- Deck Score expansion

- UX and QoL improvements

In particular, we received extensive feedback on the FA Card system, which grants Deck Score effects to non-preferred team players, and related events.

We will implement these valuable inputs in MLB RIVALS as we move forward.

Additionally, we will do our best to reveal another set of special cards as soon as possible, which were kept from disclosure as we were preparing the FA Cards.

Please read below for more details on the coming updates.

[Next Updates]

1. Skill Pick Up Scout

- Skill Pick Up Scout featuring focus players with a Gold tier S-level skill will be added.

- Unlike the previous Pick Up Scouts, the Skill Pick Up Scout will open occasionally.

2. Postseason Pick 'em Revamp

- In line with the 2024 MLB Postseason set to begin in October, a prediction (support) feature where you can predict teams that will advance further in the Postseason will be added.

- You can obtain rewards based on the ranking determined by the Pick 'em results from the Wild Card Series until the World Series.

3. Manual Play Reward

- A reward system for Manual Play will be added to support the early-phase progression of new users who prefer to play the game manually.

- The rewards will be balanced so that the reward system does not affect the gameplay of users who prefer simulation mode and does not render the rewards of other play methods obsolete.

4. Miscellaneous

- You can now exclude Balls when using the Collect All function in the Inbox.

- When checking the Rival Series Lineup Buff, all teams with at least one registered Rival Series player will be indicated.

- You can now set a target level when using Consecutive Upgrade.

Please read on for details of future update plans.

Please note that these plans are subject to change before the actual release.

[4th Quarter and Future Updates]

1. Additional Development System

[Background]

- We believe many users are finding the current card development opportunities to be insufficient, considering the fact that Signature Cards of the preferred team were only available through in-game purchases or special events for more than a year since MLB RIVALS' launch. Even when one obtains a desired card from these methods, they may be put in a dilemma because cards of the same player can only be used for limited development.

- The Workshop and FA Cards were added to let users diversify their lineup composition, but we are yet to completely wash away the disappointment that comes from obtaining the same cards and provide a high level of freedom in the lineup composition.

- This led us to recognize the need for more opportunities to get high-tier special cards and a system where various player cards can be used with more value.

- We wish to add a long-term acquisition path with the additional development system and a player scout system that can convert player cards into the same player cards of a higher grade.

- Such a system will allow users with low team OVR to develop their Impact or Prime Cards to Signature Cards through consistent gameplay, and those with high OVR will be able to develop their Signature Cards further.

[System Features]

- Impact, Prime, and Signature Cards can be developed additionally (Also applies to FA Impact, FA Prime, and FA Signature Cards) by 1 level by using a player card of the same team, grade, and position.

(Ex: For LAD F. Freeman '23 Impact Card's development, LAD C. Bellinger '17 Impact Card, LAD M. Muncy '19 Impact Card, LAD M. Muncy '21 Impact Card, etc. can be used as materials.)

- When a card of the same player and the same grade is used as material, the target card will develop by 3 levels.

(Ex: For LAD F. Freeman '23 Prime Card's development, LAD F. Freeman '23 Prime Card, LAD F. Freeman '22 Prime Card, ATL F. Freeman '21 Prime Card, ATL F. Freeman '17 Prime Card, etc. can be used as materials, and the development rate will be 3x regardless of the team)

- Certain stats will be boosted at each additional development level, and Signature Cards will be granted with greater benefits.

- Impact and Prime Cards that have reached the final additional development level can be converted into cards of a higher grade through the scout system.

- The new additional development and scout systems are being carefully designed to promote consistent gameplay and not affect the development speed of existing lineups by putting quantity and time-based limits on the materials.

- An event where you can increase the additional development levels by completing daily missions and repeat missions is being prepared.

2. Mileage Shop

- A Mileage Shop that offers items in exchange for mileage obtained from making in-game purchases.

- The Mileage Shop will offer special card packs and advanced items that support additional development and help with lineup compositions.

- The cumulative amount of in-game purchases made between MLB RIVALS' launch and the Mileage Shop's release will be considered retroactively in the mileage calculation.

3. Miscellaneous

- The matching logic in Ranked Battle will be improved to prevent matchmaking between players with significant OVR differences.

- For Potential Games and Event Games played in simulation mode, a QoL feature that allows you to play consecutive games using a certain amount of Quick Play Tickets will be added.

- You will not have to close the confirmation pop-up every time you purchase an item or package at the Shop.

- You can set the quantity of box items to use consecutively.

- Club Battle QoL and structure improvements

- Other QoL improvements

That concludes today's dev note.

We ask for your understanding that the details and schedules of the aforementioned plans are subject to change based on development progress.

Please look forward to the updates planned for the rest of the year.

Thank you for your continued support.
