알

잘 찢어지는 지느러미를 가진 알입니다.
회색이며 검은 반점이 있고, 뿔과 같은 돌기가 있는 것이 특징입니다.

지느러미는 잘 찢어지지만 끝부분이 날카로워, 주변의 물체에 상처를 낼 수도 있습니다.

질병의 기척을 느끼면 어느새 다른 곳으로 이동해 있기도 합니다.

알의 지느러미가 길어지면 부화가 가까워졌다는 신호입니다.
길어진 지느러미가 몸을 휘감아 자신의 알을 깨고 부화합니다.

Egg

The elongated fins wrap around the egg and break its own shell to hatch.

タマゴ

「このタマゴのヒレは破れやすい。」

破れやすいヒレを持ったタマゴです。

灰色で黒い斑点がついており、角のような突起があることが特徴です。

ヒレは破れやすいですが、先端が鋭いため、近くの物に切り傷を与えることがあります。

病気の気配を感じると、いつのまにか移動していることがあります。

タマゴのヒレが伸びると孵化が近いサインです。

伸びたヒレが巻き付き、自分のタマゴを割って孵化します。

해치

「손끝이 날카롭다.」

알에서 막 부화한 해치는 손끝이 날카롭습니다.

태어날 때부터 가지고 있는 긴 지느러미도 날카로워, 헤엄치는 것만으로도 주변의 해초를 잘라버리는 경우가 있습니다.
바다에서 나레크니르를 찾을 때는 잘려나간 해초가 단서가 될지도 모릅니다.

Hatch

“Its fingertips are sharp.”

A hatch that has just emerged from its egg has sharp fingertips.

The long fins it has had since birth are also sharp, and they may cut the seaweed around it simply as it swims.
If you are looking for a Narleknir in the sea, cut seaweed may serve as a clue to its whereabouts.

ハッチ

「手先が鋭い。」

タマゴから孵ったばかりのハッチは、手先が鋭いです。

生まれたころからある長いヒレは鋭く、泳いでいるだけでも周囲の海藻を切ってしまうことがあります。ナレクニルを海で探す場合は、切れた海藻が目印になるでしょう。 

해치링

「근처의 질병을 발견하면, 질병을 가진 대상을 붙잡습니다.」

해치링이 된 나레크니르는 먹이가 되는 질병이 생물의 몸속에 있다는 것을 깨닫습니다.
이 시기부터 혼자서가 아니라 한 쌍이 되어 사냥하기 시작합니다.

해치일 때는 수컷과 암컷 모두 회색이지만, 해치링이 되면 수컷은 더욱 하얗게, 암컷은 더욱 검게 변합니다.

수컷과 암컷의 기본적인 기능에는 차이가 없지만, 각각 잘하는 분야가 다릅니다.
수컷은 질병을 제거하는 기술에 능숙하며, 암컷은 질병의 냄새를 맡고 그 종류를 판별하는 데 뛰어납니다.

이들의 뿔은 대상에게 직접 갖다 대더라도 통증을 느끼지 않습니다.

수컷과 암컷은 협력하여 마취약을 만들고 몸속의 질병을 제거하려고 하지만, 이 시기에는 아직 능숙하게 제거하지 못합니다.

Hatchling

“When it detects a nearby disease, it captures the affected target.”

As a hatchling, the Narleknir realizes that the diseases it feeds on are found inside living creatures.
From this stage onward, they begin hunting in pairs rather than alone.

As hatchlings, both males and females are gray, but as they grow into hatchlings, males become whiter while females become darker.

There is no basic difference in their abilities, but each has different areas of expertise.
Males are skilled at removing diseases, while females are particularly good at detecting the scent of disease and identifying its type.

Their horns do not cause pain even when pressed directly against their targets.

Working together, males and females create anesthetics and attempt to remove diseases from inside the body, but at this stage, they are still unable to remove them successfully.

ハッチリング

「近くの病気を見つけると、病気を持った対象を捕らえます。」

ハッチリングのナレクニルは、餌となる病気が生物の体内にあることに気づきます。

このころから、一匹ではなくペアになって狩りをするようになります。

ハッチのころはオスもメスも灰色ですが、ハッチリングになると、オスはより白く、メスはより黒く変化します。

オスとメスで基本的な機能に違いはありませんが、それぞれ得意とすることが異なります。

オスは病気を切除する技術に長けており、メスは病気の匂いを嗅ぎ取り、その種類を判別することを得意とします。彼らの角は対象に角を当てても痛みを感じません。

オスとメスで協力して、麻酔を作成して体内にある病気を取り除こうとしますが、このころはまだ上手く取り除くことができません。

「질병의 냄새를 맡아 제거하는 닥터 드래곤입니다.」

성체 나레크니르는 사냥을 위해 자신의 지느러미를 찢어, 더욱 효율적으로 먹잇감을 포획하게 됩니다.
그 때문에 수많은 사냥을 경험한 나레크니르일수록 지느러미가 길고 너덜너덜한 것이 특징입니다.

나레크니르의 사냥은 먼저 대상을 파악하는 것에서 시작됩니다.
혈액을 채취하여 대상의 상태를 확인하고, 그 개체에 맞는 마취약이나 혈청을 만듭니다.

수컷의 뿔은 주사를 놓기 편리한 형태이며, 암컷의 뿔은 독을 빨아내는 데 특화되어 있습니다.

암컷이 빨아낸 독이나 질병에 대한 정보를 수컷에게 전달할 때는 서로의 뿔을 맞대어 정보를 전달합니다.

이 때문에 수컷과 암컷은 서로 말을 주고받지 않아도 각자의 역할을 이해하며 사냥할 수 있습니다.

질병을 가진 상대 앞에 찢어지고 너덜너덜해진 지느러미를 펼친 채 나타나는 모습 때문에, 사신에 비유되기도 합니다.

A Narleknir’s hunt begins by first understanding its target.

The male’s horn is shaped to make administering injections easier, while the female’s horn is specialized for drawing out poison.

When the female passes information about the poison or disease she has extracted to the male, they transmit the information by touching their horns together.

Because of this, a male and female pair can understand each other’s roles and hunt together without exchanging a single word.

Because they appear before diseased targets with their torn, tattered fins spread wide, they are sometimes compared to grim reapers.

アダルト

「病気の匂いを嗅いで取り除くドクタードラゴンです。」

アダルトのナレクニルは、狩りのために自らのヒレを裂き、より効率よく獲物を捕らえるようになります。

そのため、数多くの狩りを経験したナレクニルほど、ヒレが長く、ボロボロになっていることが特徴です。

ナレクニルの狩りは、まず対象を知ることから始まります。

血液を採取して対象の状態を把握し、その個体に適した麻酔薬や血清を作成します。

オスの角は注射を行いやすい形をしており、メスの角は毒を吸い出すことに長けています。

メスが吸い取った毒や病気の情報をオスへ伝えるとき、互いの角を合わせて情報を伝達します。

このため、オスとメスのペアは言葉を交わさなくても、互いの役割を理解して狩りを行うことができます。

病気を持った相手の前に、裂けてボロボロになったヒレを広げて現れるその姿から、死神に例えられることもあります。

스토리

「사신의 방문」

“아아, 요즘 계속 가슴이 아프고…… 밥도 잘 못 먹겠고, 마음도 진정이 안 되네. 나이 탓인가……”

남자는 가슴을 쓸어내리며 퇴근길의 어두운 밤길을 걷고 있었습니다.

문득 어둠 속에서 두 개의 달을 발견했습니다.

“달이 두 개……? 노안인가……”

눈을 비벼 보아도 달은 여전히 두 개였습니다.
두 개의 달은 점점 커지며 더욱 밝게 빛나기 시작했습니다.

치과에서 보았던 조명과 같은 빛.
그것이 눈이라는 것을 깨달은 순간――

“히익!”

하늘을 헤엄치는 ‘무언가’에게 붙잡혔습니다.

검은 누더기를 두른 그 모습은 마치 사신과도 같았습니다.

“드디어 나를 데리러 온 건가……! 싫어! 아직 하고 싶은 일이 있단 말이야!”

남자는 필사적으로 저항했지만 몸은 꼼짝도 하지 않았습니다.

이윽고 졸음이 몰려왔습니다.

마지막으로 본 것은 뿔이 난 두 마리의 사신이었습니다.

“……응?”

눈을 떠 보니 가슴의 통증이 사라져 있었습니다.
그뿐만 아니라 온몸이 거짓말처럼 가벼웠습니다.

“아픈 곳은 없나?”

하얀 쪽의 사신이 물었습니다.

“……없습니다. 어…… 저, 살아 있는 건가요?”

“없다면 됐다.”

검은 쪽도 그렇게 대답했습니다.

“아아……! 당신들은 제 생명의 은인입니다!”

남자는 두 마리에게 몇 번이고 감사의 말을 전했습니다.

“정말 감사합니다!!”

“좋아. 문제없는 것 같군.”

두 마리의 사신은 남자를 돌아보지도 않은 채 바다로 돌아갔습니다.

Story

“The Reaper’s Visit”

“Ah, my chest has been hurting lately… I haven’t been able to eat much, and I can’t seem to settle down. Maybe it’s just my age…”

The man walked home from work along the dark streets, rubbing his chest.

Suddenly, he noticed two moons in the darkness.

“Two moons…? Am I getting farsighted?”

Even after rubbing his eyes, there were still two moons.
They gradually grew larger, shining more brightly as they approached.

A light like the one he had seen at the dentist’s office.
The moment he realized that the light was actually an eye—

“Eek!”

He was seized by “something” swimming through the sky.

Draped in tattered black cloth, it looked just like a grim reaper.

“Has the time finally come for me to be taken away…?! No! I still have things I want to do!”

The man desperately struggled, but his body would not move.

Before long, sleepiness overcame him.

The last thing he saw was two horned grim reapers staring down at him.

“…Huh?”

When he opened his eyes, the pain in his chest was gone.
Not only that, his entire body felt unbelievably light and healthy.

“Does anything hurt?”

The white reaper asked.

“…No. Wait… I’m alive?”

“If nothing hurts, then that’s good.”

The black one answered as well.

“Ah…! You two saved my life!”

The man repeatedly thanked the two of them.

“Thank you so much!!”

“Good. Looks like everything is fine.”

Without even looking back at the man, the two grim reapers returned to the sea.

ストーリー

「死神の来訪」

「ああ、最近ずっと胸が痛くて……ご飯もあまり食べられないし、落ち着かないんだ。年かな……」

男は胸を撫でながら、仕事帰りの夜道を歩いていた。

ふと、暗がりに二つの月を見つける。

「お月様が二つ……？　老眼かな……」

目をこすっても、月は二つのまま。

それは徐々に大きくなり、光を増していく。

歯医者で見たライトのような光。

それが、目だと気づいた瞬間――

「ひぃ！」

空を泳ぐ“それ”に捕らえられた。

黒いボロ布を纏った姿は、まるで死神。

「とうとうお迎えが……！　嫌だ！　まだやりたいことがあるんだ！」

必死に抵抗する男だったが、身体はびくともしない。

やがて眠気が襲ってきた。

最後に見たのは、角の生えた二匹の死神だった。

「……ん？」

目を覚ますと、胸の痛みがない。

それどころか、身体中が嘘のように軽い。

「痛いところはないか」

白い方の死神が尋ねた。

「……ないです。あれ……私、生きてる？」

「ないならそれでいい」

黒い方もそう答えた。

「ああ……！　あなた方は命の恩人だ！」

男は二匹に何度も礼を伝えた。

「ありがとうございました！！」

「よし。問題なさそうだな」

二匹の死神は、男を振り返ることなく海へと戻っていった。

안녕하세요, 카노네입니다!

이번 드래곤은 물속에 사는 드래곤을 그리고 싶다는 생각에서 시작해 제작했습니다.

나레크니르(Narleknir)라는 이름은
Nar → Narwhal(일각고래)
Læknir → 의사
에서 가져왔으며, **「일각고래의 의사」**라는 의미입니다.

나레크니르는 질병을 먹는 드래곤이지만, 이들에게는 사냥이 곧 수술과 같은 행위이며, 그 결과 대상이 건강해지기 때문에 이러한 이름을 붙였습니다.

또한 실제 일각고래의 암컷에게는 뿔이 없지만, 나레크니르의 암컷에게는 나선형의 뿔이 있습니다.
이는 나레크니르의 또 다른 모티브인 **「모기」**가 포함되어 있기 때문입니다.

의사, 주사 바늘, 일각고래, 그리고 모기.

이러한 요소들을 조합하여 만든 드래곤입니다.

이제 콘테스트도 얼마 남지 않았지만, 이 드래곤을 마음에 들어 해주신다면 기쁠 것 같습니다.

Hello, I’m Kanone!

I created this dragon because I wanted to draw a dragon that lives in the water.

The name Narleknir comes from:
Nar → Narwhal
Læknir → Doctor
and means “Doctor of the Narwhal.”

Narleknirs are dragons that feed on disease. To them, hunting is essentially a form of surgery, and as a result, their targets become healthy. This is why I gave them this name.

Also, while female narwhals do not have tusks, female Narleknirs have spiral horns.
This is because another motif included in Narleknir is the mosquito.

A doctor, a syringe needle, a narwhal, and a mosquito.

These are the elements I combined to create this dragon.

The contest is coming to an end soon, but I would be very happy if you come to like this dragon.

あとがき

こんにちは、かのねです！

今回のドラゴンは、水に住む竜を描きたいと思い、作成しました。

ナレクニル（Narleknir）の名前は、

Nar → Narwhal（イッカク）

Læknir → 医者

から取っており、「イッカクの医者」という意味です。

ナレクニルは病気を食べる竜ですが、彼らにとっての狩りが手術となり、結果として対象が健康になることから、この名前をつけました。

また、イッカクのメスには角がありませんが、ナレクニルのメスにはらせん状の角があります。

これは、もう一つのモチーフである「蚊」が含まれているためです。

医者、注射針、イッカク、そして蚊。

これらの要素を組み合わせて作ったドラゴンです。

あと少しでコンテストも終了しますが、このドラゴンを気に入ってくれると嬉しいです。
