Story:
Fruit Basket Dragon was originally a normal dragon that liked fruit.

The girl, hearing this, thought the dragon was hungry,
so she offered him a piece of bread from the basket she was carrying.

Then the dragon and the girl met often.

The girl always brought her basket and gave the dragon some bread.

The two of them became good friends.

The girl eventually grew up and was going to marry a man.
The dragon wanted to give the girl something as a gift.
He thought that fruit would be a good gift, but he always only gave her as much as he could hold in both hands.

ストーリー：
フルーツバスケットドラゴンは元々、フルーツが好きな普通のドラゴンでした。
新鮮なフルーツを探すのが得意で、
いつも両手にフルーツを抱えて暮らしていました。

ある日、ドラゴンの元に一人の娘がやってきました。

「ドラゴンさん、なにしてるの？」

ドラゴンはフルーツを探していると答えました。
その話を聞いた娘はドラゴンがお腹が空いていると思い、
持っていたカゴからパンを一つ差し出しました。

それからドラゴンと娘はよく会うようになりました。

娘はいつもカゴを持ってきて、ドラゴンにパンを渡しました。
何度か繰り返しているうちに、
ドラゴンも取ってきたフルーツを娘にあげるようになりました。
そしてすっかり二人は仲良しになりました。

やがて、その娘は大人になり、一人の男性と結婚をすることになりました。
ドラゴンは娘に何か贈りたいと考えました。
贈るのはフルーツが良いと思いましたが、いつもあげていたのは両手に抱えられる分だけ。
もっとたくさん贈りたい。

そういえば、娘はいつもカゴを持っていました。
カゴになればフルーツをたくさん贈れると思ったドラゴンは徐々にカゴの形になっていきました。
身体の一部はバスケットに、尻尾は持ち手に変化しました。
そして新鮮なフルーツをカゴいっぱいに入れることができました。

結婚式の日、ドラゴンは娘にフルーツいっぱいのバスケットをあげました。
娘はとても喜びました。
娘と新郎、ドラゴン、招待客たちと共にフルーツを分け合いました。

それから娘が住む国では、お祝い事にフルーツバスケットを贈る習慣がついたそうです。
