The Onsen Dragon lay curled up near the hot springs, its soothing presence lending a sense of peace to all who visited. All around it, the steaming pools bubbled with restorative waters.

A small village nearby had recently suffered an outbreak of sickness. Many were weak and suffering from fever. The village elder came to the hot springs, bearing an offering of wildflowers for the dragon.

"Oh wise Onsen Dragon," she said, "our people are ill and need your healing powers. Will you grant us your mercy?"

The dragon stirred slowly, opening one relaxed eye. It gazed at the elder for a long moment before nodding solemnly. Rising to its feet, it stepped carefully into the largest hot spring and submerged itself completely.

Billows of fragrant steam began rising from the water as the dragon's magical healing kicked in. Its fur shed petals and leaves that infused the mist with their calming properties. Any impurities dropped from its snout in the form of thick mucus.

The elder gathered bottles of the purging mucus, thanking the dragon. She returned to the village and distributed the mucus as medicine.
