Developer Note 2026.04.16 - Regarding Mystery Lottery Test Accounts

Hello, this is Director S of Dragon Village Collection.

We sincerely and deeply apologize for the great confusion and distress caused to many Tamers by the issue of a test account operating in the 'Mystery Lottery' on the East Asia server today.

We take to heart how much of a sense of loss this incident may have caused our Tamers, and we would like to explain how it occurred and what measures will be taken to prevent recurrence.

1. How It Occurred

This issue occurred due to a lapse in oversight during the process of testing the real-time access feature of the 'Mystery Lottery' in the live environment.

 - Purpose of testing: Because the 'Mystery Lottery' is content accessed by a large number of Tamers simultaneously, it was necessary to verify how the system handles concurrent and varied volume requests in the actual live service environment.

 - How it occurred: During the live server maintenance window, an internal tester used multiple test accounts and automation features to verify the functionality. However, one of the test schedulers used in this process was accidentally set to activate after the maintenance period ended, and maintenance concluded without this being caught.

Subsequently, as the scheduler continued to operate on the live server after maintenance ended, Mystery Lottery purchases were made. However, the accounts were not identified internally as test accounts, and the first round of the lottery concluded.

2. Circumstances Regarding the Test Accounts

During maintenance, testing was conducted on the live server's 'Badge' feature. However, when data was reset prior to the end of maintenance, the Badge data was not cleared, and maintenance ended with this oversight. Upon becoming aware of the issue, the Badge data for the test accounts was promptly cleaned up.

During subsequent monitoring, a report was received regarding a specific account with a record from the first round of the Mystery Lottery, and it was then recognized that the test account had been exposed.

As unexpected situations arose one after another, the tester in charge, in a panicked state and with the rushed impulse to conceal the test account exposure, improperly modified the account information — a deeply misguided and inexcusable response.

After thoroughly reviewing the entire sequence of events, it was confirmed that this was not the result of manual manipulation by the tester, but rather an abnormal operation caused by a configuration error in the automation feature that had been set up to verify the lottery functionality during the live maintenance.

There is no excuse for the immature handling and technical error that caused our Tamers further suspicion and distress. The entire development team deeply reflects on and takes responsibility for the disappointment this incident has caused.

3. Measures to Prevent Recurrence

We intend to fully overhaul our processes to ensure the same issue never occurs again.

 - Establishing a live server testing process: Going forward, when testing in the live environment is required, we will make it mandatory to introduce a cross-verification step that performs a full inspection of all test data and scheduled schedulers before maintenance ends. We will implement double and triple confirmation procedures to ensure that one person's mistake does not lead to a breakdown of trust in the entire service.

 - Strengthening test account identification and isolation: We will put technical safeguards in place to ensure test accounts are never exposed to Tamers, so that we can provide a stable play environment.

4. Compensation Details

While we cannot fully account for the hurt felt by the Tamers who were affected by our mistake, we have prepared the following compensation as a token of our sincerest apologies. Compensation will be sent via Mail during the morning of April 17 (Fri).

We would like to thank the Tamers who helped us identify the issue quickly by reporting it.

We sincerely apologize once again.
