Developer Note 2025.05.30 – About Fan-Created Dragons

Hello.

Tamers who love Dragon Village Collection,

this is Director S.

The Fan-Created Dragon event has now reached its 9th round. Thank you sincerely for the strong interest and affection you have shown each time. Many of you have designed dragons with great care, filling them with your own imagination and creativity, and we have felt your genuine passion in every one of those works.

The Fan-Created Dragon event is not simply an idea contest; it is content designed to let a dragon you create actually appear in the game. Our biggest goal has been to give players who cherish and enjoy Dragon Village the joy and pride of creation, and at the center of that is the voluntary participation and expressive pleasure of each creator.

Recently we confirmed that some concerns had been raised in the community about “idea theft” or “insufficient compensation for creations.” In particular, we learned that some participants felt the time and effort they invested in their entries were not properly respected. We are taking this seriously because such impressions could distort the original purpose of the event.

Implementing a Fan-Created Dragon in the game requires more than simply importing the work; it involves several stages of review and adjustment. Because Dragon Village has an organically interconnected lore and setting, even a single small element can affect overall content, so every new dragon is examined closely. On the design side as well, we apply careful adjustments and development—concept art, pixel work, animation—so the personality and backstory of each dragon shine through. We do our best to ensure the finished dragon is satisfying to its original creator.

The event is run according to the guidelines stated at the time of entry, and submission is structured so that participants agree their creations may be used in-game. The development team does not use this event merely to harvest ideas; with each participant’s consent, we rework and adapt the designs in ways that can be realized as game content. Nonetheless, we recognize that this operating method was not fully communicated, and as a result some felt the rewards were insufficient or their creations were not respected. We believe that beyond explanations, practical improvements in operation and rewards are needed.

Accordingly, we are adjusting the reward criteria for the Fan-Created Dragon event as follows.

• An additional 500 Diamonds will be added to the winner’s reward.

• A winner will be excluded from winner selection in the following round (but may still enter).

Example: A Tamer who wins in Round 9 is excluded from winner selection in Round 10, and may win again starting from Round 11.

• Each winner will receive four copies each of the winning dragon’s egg (male and female) in advance.

• A consolation-prize entry will receive an additional 5,000 Dragem.

• Consolation prizes are selected independently each round and are judged regardless of past awards.

Example: A Tamer who won in Round 9 can still receive a consolation prize in Round 10.

These changes will be applied retroactively, and the additional rewards will be granted to those who won in Rounds 1–8.

The Fan-Created Dragon event will continue to focus on the joy of creation and expression, and we will more clearly explain the operation process to reduce any confusion or misunderstanding that may arise. We will keep listening to your valuable feedback and work to improve in better directions.

Thank you.
