Developer Notes: Volume 2

Hello, commanders.
This is GM Tia from Light of the Stars.

We are acutely aware of the concerns many Commanders have raised regarding the future direction of Light of the Stars.

We have deeply taken to heart your feedback about the lack of communication. Therefore, today, we would like to share the future update direction of Light of the Stars and convey the messages from our development team.

Before we reveal the contents of the Developer’s Note, we sincerely thank all Commanders for enjoying Light of the Stars despite our shortcomings.

Now, let’s take a look at the future changes of Light of the Stars through the messages from our development team.

🌟 Developer Team Greetings | Before Announcing the Update Direction
Hello, commanders.
This is the Light of the Stars development team.
It’s been a while since we greeted you through the Developer’s Note.
Thank you for always playing Light of the Stars.

Light of the Stars, which has been prepared over more than two years of development, is a work that embodies our development team’s desire to present a unique strategy RPG that’s one of a kind in the world.

We thought we had prepared thoroughly, but as the official service approached, we, as developers, got overly ambitious and showed some instability. As a result, unexpected situations such as server overload and abuse of unauthorized external programs occurred from the first day of the official opening, disappointing those who had high expectations.

It’s entirely our fault that we did not respond quickly to the reports you provided. In the future, we will strive to show a more improved performance to live up to your trust and support.

Now, let’s take some time to review the messages from Commanders over the past two months and share our thoughts.

🌟 Developer Note 2-1 | About Game Balance Adjustment

Many Commanders have voiced concerns about the character balance adjustments made after the official service launch.

The balance adjustment of SR hero Della was made in the same direction as the previously announced adjustment of SR hero  Salaph in the last Developer’s Note.

We believe it is respectful to the Commanders to adjust the balance before the official launch. The fact that the balance adjustment was made after the service started is entirely our fault.

However, as you know, Light of the Stars is a strategy game, and a situation where victory is determined by a combination of only 2-3 heroes contradicts our intended direction. Although we understand that many Commanders have been using Della, we had to adjust the balance due to her excessive efficiency.

When adjusting character balance, we prioritize whether a particular character is too strong or efficient and whether it ultimately limits the game’s strategic elements. Therefore, we have continuously adjusted heroes like Lottie so that they do not directly target the final objective in PVE and PVP content.

Della’s efficiency went unnoticed during this process of unifying the direction, and thus, we had no choice but to lower her performance. We ask for your understanding.

We promise to thoroughly review characters before release to ensure they do not deviate from our intended design and continuously monitor existing characters to ensure they do not disrupt the game’s strategic elements.

We are also reassessing stage balance. We have identified sections where new Commanders struggle and plan to lower the difficulty of early chapters and raise the difficulty of high-end content to continuously provide enjoyment for experienced Commanders. Although we are currently only outlining these directions, we will announce detailed improvement plans soon.

🌟 Developer Note 2-2 | Server Mergers
This might be the news many Commanders have been waiting for. We have seen frequent mentions of this on the boards and would like to address it.

Embarrassingly, due to server overload on the first day of the official launch, we hastily increased the number of servers, leading to insufficient player counts per server. Additionally, many Commanders have left due to store issues in mid-May, causing concern about the service.

Light of the Stars is a game where both PVE and PVP content must be enjoyed to truly experience its fun. Ensuring a sufficient number of players is crucial for creating a healthy PVP environment. Therefore, we have decided that server integration is the top priority and are preparing for it.

You may wonder why we are not rushing the integration. While it is easy to merge character information into one server, integrating a Commander’s character and guild data with another server is challenging.

As you know, in Light of the Stars, each server can have only one unique nickname, and most content has rankings. Ensuring these elements integrate smoothly is our priority. The most important thing is to preserve the data you have accumulated, and we ask for your understanding as this may take some time.

We aim to complete the server integration by the end of June. Once we finalize the schedule, we will share it through an announcement.

🌟 Developer Note 2-3 | Guild Competitive Contents

If there are guilds, there should be competition between guilds, right?
We created the guild content with such intentions.
Achieving the glory of victory with like-minded people is directly connected to the essence of enjoyment in online games.

We are contemplating the best way to maximize the strengths of Light of the Stars through guild competition, not just through rankings or points but through overcoming strategies prepared by each guild.

Of course, competitive content requires a sufficient number of players to be enjoyable. Therefore, we are developing this alongside server integration.

We are working hard on this, so please be patient.

🌟 Developer Note 2-4 | Addition of Mini-Game
We were pleasantly surprised by the passion and enthusiasm Commanders showed for the mini-games.

Though some joked that the Crystal Orb was the main game, we were delighted by the joy it brought. We received many requests to add permanent mini-games.

However, both the Archery Test and Crystal Orb mini-games were designed to run on a schedule, considering player competition. Therefore, we are planning to add in-game events or mini-games that can be enjoyed permanently.

Currently, we are brainstorming and evaluating the feasibility of several ideas, and we are excited to introduce some fun concepts soon.

Additionally, we plan to add another scheduled mini-game similar to the Crystal Orb and Archery Game.

🌟 Developer Note 2-5 | Other Improvements
We believe it is crucial to fix bugs. We are aware there are still many bugs, and we feel a great sense of responsibility for the patience Commanders have shown.

For the June 13th update, we plan to prioritize bug fixes and stability improvements over major content updates.

One piece of good news to share: after the June 13th update, you will be able to summon UR with Blackstone Crystal. However it require more Blackstone Crystals to summon.

🌟 Wrapping Up Developer Note 2
This was the first Developer’s Note from our team since the official launch. Did it answer some of your questions?

Even now, there are still many areas for improvement. Unlike other games, variables arise due to manual control, leading to unexpected efficiencies or errors during testing.

Although we should have been better prepared, it shows how high the level of our Commanders is.

Some Commanders have been actively reporting issues, almost like professional QA testers. The stabilization of Light of the Stars over the past two months is entirely thanks to you. We sincerely thank you for that.

Looking back, many things have happened: the 7 Days of Oath event popup error, the error where new Commanders did not receive welcome Rewards, the app store issues, and even now, players violating game fairness.

Despite these challenges over just two months, we are deeply grateful to Commanders who continue to support Light of the Stars.

We hope that all these experiences have not only brought disappointment but also shown you the potential of a new genre and the fun of manual control.

We hope today’s Developer Note becomes a steadfast promise to all Commanders playing Light of the Stars. We have prepared a small gift for you.

We look forward to greeting you in the next Developer’s Note.
Please continue to support Light of the Stars.

Thank you.
