MLB RIVALS Dev Note #11

Greetings from Com2uS!

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the users who supported MLB RIVALS throughout 2024.

For the year 2025, here’s a preview of the updates planned for January and future directions leading up to March, the start of the new season.

Please note that the following information is subject to change as development progresses.

[Next Update (Scheduled for January)]

1. Moment Card System

- A new type of card called “Moment Cards” (tentative name) will be added, featuring various themes.

- As mentioned in previous Dev Notes, Moment Cards allow a single player to be featured in multiple themes and are released as distinct cards. These cards are designed to preserve the value of existing Signature Cards while considering team balance.

: Moment Cards will have slightly lower maximum development potential than Signature Cards but will require fewer items and resources for development, encouraging players to diversify their lineups.

- Moment Cards will feature a rarity separate from the current Impact, Prime, and Signature Cards. Development features such as Limit Break, Transcendence, and Development Transfer will only be available between Moment Cards. FA contracts and Rarity Boosts will not be available.

- Moment Cards will be obtainable through various channels, including the Content Shop, offering more options to create unique lineups.

2. Ambassador System (Tentative Name)

- With the addition of new cards, including FA and Moment Cards, lineup changes are inevitable. Many users may feel that their previously developed cards could be utilized more.

- The Ambassador System will address this by allowing unused, developed cards to be utilized to obtain items that aid development.

- This system will include two types of Contributions:

1. Special Contribution: Allows registration of Special Cards such as (FA) Impact, (FA) Prime, Moment, and (FA) Signature Cards.

2. Basic Contribution: Allows registration of Season and Live Cards.

- The rewards from this system will depend on the number of registered players and their development status, including Upgrades and Training.

3. Development System Balance Adjustments (January-February Live Update)

- Adjustments will be made to the development system to help new users develop their player cards more efficiently and reduce resource burdens.

- The Points required for Upgrades before Limit Breaks will be reduced, with certain stages offering higher success rates.

- The Points and EXP required for Training before Training Boost will also be reduced.

- These changes aim to help new player cards join your lineup more quickly.

4. Content Reward Balancing (January and Beyond)

- Reward balancing will be adjusted to make various game modes more engaging and rewarding:

- Ranked Battle rewards will be improved, including the addition of Advanced Crafting Tickets.

- Live Match ranking rewards will also be improved, including the addition of Advanced Crafting Tickets.

- RBI Battle rewards, including game and round rewards, will be increased, and position-specific Prime Card packs will be added to the Shop.

5. New User Support

※ In preparation for the second season after launch, we’re introducing several improvements to help new users settle into MLB RIVALS:

- Main Player Signature Recruitment

: As previously mentioned, a Main Player can be upgraded step-by-step from Impact to Prime and eventually to Signature through Transcendence and Rarity Boost.

: If you acquire the chosen Main Player’s Signature Card while progressing through this content, the system will allow you to select another Main Player with the same progression level (Rarity and Transcendence).

(For example: If you have set F. Freeman as your Main Player and boosted his '23 Impact Card to a Prime Card with Transcendence Lv. 3, acquiring a Signature Card of F. Freeman will let you continue the Boost process by replacing the F. Freeman Prime Card with a M. Betts Prime Card with Transcendence Lv. 3.

- Improvements will be made to the initial team creation flow and tutorial, enhancing its connection with Guide Mission 1.

- The postseason in Beginner 1 of League Mode will be simplified to facilitate quicker progression to higher difficulties.

- Guide Mission 1’s completion requirements will be rebalanced.

- Early-game support gift boxes will be distributed to new users.

- A safeguard will be added to prevent the accidental use of special cards as materials during development content.

6. Other Improvements

- Upgrade system UI and Consecutive Upgrade speed will be improved.

: Both single and consecutive upgrades will allow pre-selecting Upgrade Success and Critical Badges while showing success rates and material requirements in real time.

: Simplified success rate info will be displayed by default, with an option to expand for detailed stats.

: Consecutive Upgrade will be speeded up more.

- Hard Mode will be added to Event Game, enabling higher Ball consumption and greater event token rewards.

- The lineup import feature will switch from “Load” to a copy-and-paste system.

- Daily and Weekly missions will be consolidated for convenience, and Challenge - Achievement and Repeat Mission will also be merged.

- Ultimate Coin acquisition details will be visible on the League Mode main screen.

- The Player Index will save the last filter settings for better convenience.

- (Steam) Graphics options will include FSR Sharpness adjustment and a V-Sync toggle.

- Support for devices with refresh rates over 120Hz will be expanded for smoother gameplay.

- Remaining Event Tokens after events will be converted to Points.

- Cumulative rewards from Events, Scouts, and Campaigns can now be collected in bulk.

- Selecting an item in the rewards pop-up will display detailed information, including owned quantities.

- Multiple Spring Training-related events are planned during the preseason.

[Planned Updates Post-January 2025]

- Improved material supply for early-stage Training Boost.

- New crafting recipes in the Workshop.

- Introduction of a higher league difficulty above Champion.

- Ranked Battle daily rewards and Live Match weekly rewards will be improved with new acquisition structures.

- A new competitive mode, Ranked Battle Tournament, will be added.

- Special events celebrating the season’s opening.

- Continuous release of Moment Cards featuring new themes.

That concludes today’s Dev Note.

As always, some details and update timelines may change depending on the development progress.

We ask for your understanding and patience as we strive to deliver the best possible experience.

In 2025, we will remain committed to providing exciting new content, events, and improvements.

We also wish you health and happiness in the new year.

Thank you.
